NSU’s “Let’s Speak Truth: Poetry and Spoken Word Night,”

NSU’s “Let’s Speak Truth: Poetry and Spoken Word Night,” held on Thursday, March 13, was the creative highlight of the month.  The event, which officially closed out the university’s Black History Month celebration, spotlighted the poetic and musical talents of NSU students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the tri-county area.

Hosted by local celebrity, Quick the Poet, presentations touched upon a number of topics, including life and death, freedom, love, single parenthood, and included a humorous but educational spoken word presentation by NSU faculty member Stan Cohen, Ed.D., who talked about his interaction with Albert Einstein.

Hosted by the Alvin Sherman Library and the Division of Advancement and Community Affairs, the inaugural event left the audience wanting more and budding artists ready to sign up to participate in the next poetry and spoken word night.

A special thanks goes to everyone who shared his or her story and talents.
