Huizenga School Professor Presents Research at Management Conference
Randi L. Sims, Ph.D., professor of management at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, recently presented her research study at the Southwest Academy of Management Annual Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The paper was titled, “Satisfaction as a Mediator in the Relation Between Goal Orientation and Career Withdrawal Intentions.”
With many industries facing recessionary pressures, employee ability to respond positively to change may aid the organization in its capacity to endure difficult times. This study adds to the discussion about career attitudes and withdrawal by considering goal orientation as an individual employee characteristic central in predicting and understanding career attitudes and withdrawal intentions/behaviors. A self-administered survey was utilized to collect attitude data from a sample of 241 respondents working as real estate professionals. The results indicate that satisfaction fully mediates the relation between learning orientation and withdrawal intentions and behaviors. Suggestions are offered for future research.
