Huizenga College of Business Students Shine in State DECA Competition
Members of NSU’s Collegiate DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) chapter competed recently at the Annual Collegiate DECA State Career Development Conference held at Florida International University and brought home top honors.
At the conference’s Competitive Events Program, NSU students put their experience, skills and knowledge to the test in 24 different categories. Those who placed in the top 10 in their category qualified to compete in the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, CA, in April, 2017. Daniela Pulgarin came in 3rd place statewide in Corporate Finance.
The following NSU students placed in the Top 10 in their respective categories:
- Stephanie Allen– Human Resource Management and Marketing Management
- Fatima Ismail and Lennox Francis– Business-to-Business Marketing and Financial Statement Analysis
- Ryker Hess- Hotel and Lodging and Restaurant and Food Service Management
- Daniela Pulgarin and Sundari Palanivel– Sports and Entertainment Marketing
- Sundari Palanivel– Restaurant and Food Service Management
DECA Inc., is a not-for-profit student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
