On Saturday, Aug. 4, a team of employees from the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship assembled in order to give back to the community. In addition to the team from the School of Business, two employees’ spouses also participated in the effort to landscape a park in a 30-unit Habitat for Humanity community in Fort Lauderdale.
The Habitat community was designed to give those in need decent and affordable housing. Thanks to the hard work of the volunteers, the park they were able to create will provide a fun and social place for community members to come together and spend time with their friends and families.
“We are so proud to have such devoted team members who are taking the core NSU value of Community to heart,” said Dennis Dannacher, assistant dean of enrollment services and program operations for the Huizenga Business School. “We look forward to participating in many more service projects in the future to make our community a better place and get the word out about the university. A small amount of effort on our parts can make an indelible difference in the lives of others.”
The Huizenga Business School will continue volunteering with Habitat for Humanity as well as other charitable organizations and plans are being formed to increase community service opportunities for employees. To learn about future opportunities contact Raymond Medina at rmedina1@huizenga.nova.edu.
