Huizenga Business School Hosts Annual Employee Awards Luncheon

The Huizenga Business School recognized several of its outstanding faculty and staff members at its annual Employee Awards Luncheon, which was held on Monday, May 16 in the William S. Spears Courtyard Atrium of the Carl DeSantis Building. The following employees were given awards: Ruth Clarke, Ph.D., Teacher of the Year; Bahaudin Mujtaba, D.B.A., Faculty Member of the Year; Nathan Charles, Ph.D., Adjunct Professor of the Year; and Liza Sumulong, Staff Member of the Year.

Sponsored by AT&T, Huizenga Business School employees were treated to the season’s last stone crabs as well as mouth-watering paella, which was homemade by Joe “Paella” Pineda, along with his son-in-law Lee Gilreath, Evan Contorakes and Alexa Morales.

In addition, several employees won raffle prizes including United Way LIVE UNITED T-shirts; weekend stays at the Renaissance Hotel Plantation, Courtyard Marriott Plantation, and the Mayfair Hotel & Spa.; and the grand prize was two round trip tickets to anywhere American Airlines flies in the continental U.S.

A group of staff and faculty surprised the crowd with a bit of entertainment, performing a flash mob “line dance” style dance to the popular tune of Danza Kuduro by Don Omar & Lucenzo. Special guest participants –Dean Fields, Joe Pineda and Nancy Olson (Adjunct Faculty for Sport & Recreation Management Program) made the skit all the more entertaining.
