HR to offer “Negotiation Skills & Strategies” Workshop, Jan. 30-31

The old adage, “You do not always get what you deserve. You get what you negotiate” is a truism as it touts negotiation skills as an asset.

“Negotiation Skills and Strategies,” a seminar sponsored by NSU’s Office of Human Resources and facilitated by Neil Katz, Ph.D., professor in the University’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, will be presented over two half day sessions on Jan. 30 and 31. The seminar will be held 8:30 am – 12:30 pm in the Chancellor’s Dining Room of the Health Profession Division’s Terry Building.

Neil Katz, Ph.D.

This workshop will enhance participants’ capacity to effectively use interest-based negotiation concepts and tools to achieve mutually satisfactory agreements that will satisfy underlying interests. Participants will explore the practice of outcome setting, distinguishing between positions and interests, emerging interests through reflective listening, generating options, creating standards to evaluate options, and agreement management.

Register online for this free workshop by visiting the NSU Employee Training Opportunities webpage at www.nova.edu/cwis/hrd/training/index.html. For more information, please contact NSU Learning Manager Maureen Simunek-Appelt, M.B.A., at maureens@nova.edu or 954-262-7869.
