HPD Library Collaborates on Research Using 3D Printer
NSU’s Health Professions Division (HPD) Library has secured a 3D printer giving students and faculty the opportunity to experience this new technology that will impact the health care community for years to come. HPD librarians are working with faculty members from various colleges to develop research projects and other educational opportunities in areas such as prosthetics, audiology and dental medicine, for students to use the 3D printer.
Currently five different programs are underway. Fox example students and faculty in NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences’ Department of Occupational Therapy are working with the library to develop a research project that will evaluate the use of 3D printed prosthetic hands in children with amputated limbs. The research will be in conjunction with non-profit group e-NABLE. Click here to see a video of a 3D printer creating a prosthetic hand.
For more information about collaborating with the HPD Library on a research project or educational program using 3D printer, please contact Kaye Robertson, executive director of the HPD Library, at kayerob@nova.edu.
