HPD Grant Writing Mentoring Program

A pilot study will be launched in October 2018 to evaluate the efficacy of a grant writing mentoring program. The study is funded by the Health Profession’s Division Educational Research Grant, and will pair new investigators with senior investigators in a structured year-long program that includes external peer reviews and grant writing training, coaching, and editing, to provide a well-rounded support system for participants. The goal of the program is for mentees to submit a grant proposal that reflects best practices in grant writing and grant strategy. This pilot study will test the effectiveness of the grant writing mentorship program in engaging the mentees and mentors, gaining the support of infrastructure resources and guiding the mentees through the research development and grant application process to submission. Information gleaned from this study will be used to assess the effectiveness of program components and determine the scalability of such efforts for a university-wide implementation.

For more information on this program, please contact the study investigators Roxana Ross, Ed.D., Beth Gilbert, M.S., and Maryellen Maher, Ph.D., at grantlab@nova.edu.
