The Honorable Jerome K. Fitzgerald to Deliver Keynote Address at NSU Graduation Celebration in Nassau

The Honorable Jerome K. Fitzgerald will be the keynote speaker at NSU’s 2013 graduation celebration on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 beginning at 2 p.m. in the Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino, Nassau.

The graduation celebration will award degrees to students from NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler School of Education and its H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. The public is invited to attend.

“We are proud of our graduates who we know will become great leaders in their professional lives, said Juliet Reid, NSU’s Regional Director of the Student Educational Center in The Bahamas. “It is fitting that we have such a renowned leader as the Honorable Jerome Fitzgerald to speak to our graduates and offer his knowledge, wisdom and advice.”

About The Honorable Jerome K. Fitzgerald: The Honorable Jerome K. Fitzgerald was appointed Minister of Education, Science and Technology of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on May, 10, 2012. He previously served as a Senator from 2007-2012.

Minister Fitzgerald is an attorney-at-law called to the English and Bahamian Bars in 1991. In 1989 he obtained his Masters in Law degree from King’s College, University of London, and in 1992 a Master’s of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Shipping, Trade and Finance from City University Business School, London. He interned with Elliott Lockhart & Co. for six months before moving to Nassau’s largest law firm, Higgs & Johnson, where he spent three years in the litigation department concentrating on labor, insurance, banking and maritime law.

He is an established businessman who grew up in a family business and has had a number of business interests in the country. From 2002-2007, he served as the Deputy Chairman and Council Member of The College of The Bahamas where he served as Chairman of the Finance sub-committee and also served on the Board of the Education Loan Authority.
