Holiday Drive and Angel Tree a Success at NSU Fort Myers Campus
The NSU Fort Myers Campus along with its Student Government Association hosted a holiday drive in the form of an Angel Tree to benefit Harns Marsh Elementary School in Lehigh Acres, FL where 93% of the students participate in the free/reduced lunch program. Between Thanksgiving and the last day of final exams, over 40 gifts were collected including toys, school supplies, and new articles of clothing for children ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade. NSU students then traveled to the school to present the gifts to Principal Dr. Marsha Bur. They also had an opportunity to tour the school and discuss an expansion of mentor relationships between NSU and Harns Marsh students. This would include continued participation in the Career Day presentations as well as volunteering for Reading Days.
Additionally, the students and staff of the Fort Myers Physician Assistant Clinic Department collected gifts and distributed them to the children at the Wimauma Family Health Center in Wimauma, FL.
