Hispanic Heritage Month – Weekend of Artistic Excellence, Sept. 27 & 28
Don’t miss this weekend’s exciting events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Come out and be thoroughly entertained on Saturday while you enjoy the various genres performed by the IFÉ-ILÉ Afro-Dance Company and watch the concluding film of the Cine Argentino Film Festival on Sunday.

Saturday, September 27 – Performance: IFÉ-ILÉ Afro-Cuban Dance Company, 2-3:30 pm
The Alvin Sherman Library will host IFÉ-ILÉ Afro-Dance Company, the most renowned Cuban dance troupe in Miami. Famous for traditional Cuban dances, Mambo, Rumba, Conga, Chancleta, Son, Salsa, and the ritual dances of the Orishas, the company also boasts a repertoire featuring a wide range of other genres, including modern dance fusions. The company has performed at the Latin Grammy Awards, Super Bowl Sunday and the Billboard Awards, as well as in festivals such as the Smithsonian Institution’s Folklife Festival. IFE-ILE has also performed in several videos and commercials, including in actor Andy Garcia’s directorial debut film, “The Lost City.” Free and open to the public. Sunday, September 28 – Cine Argentino: Van Van, Empezó La Fiesta, 2:00 pm
The Alvin Sherman Library continues the Argentine Film Festival with “Van Van, Empezó La Fiesta.” This documentary depicts the lives of Cuban music group Van Van. Director: Liliana Mazure. No English subtitles. Argentine actress and journalist Adriana Bianco will introduce and provide commentary. Free and open to the public. Location: Carl DeSantis Building, Knight Auditorium.
