Hear an Eclectic Quintet Performance at the Ars Flores Five-Star Chamber Music Concert, Apr. 17

The Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, will host the Five-Star Chamber Music Concert at NSU on Apr. 17. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Performance Theatre of the college’s Performing and Visual Arts wing in the Don Taft University Center.

The Five-Star Chamber Music Concert, which will conclude the college’s Resident Series for the 2009–2010 academic year, will feature the Ars Flores V Wind Quintet and Jazz Ensemble, composed of five principal wind players from the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra. The group will perform traditional quintet music, jazz, and selections from musical theatre. The eclectic performance is designed to illustrate the versatility of this talented group of musicians.

Prior to the evening’s concert, Ars Flores will present Music for Munchkins – a free, 30-minute mini-concert geared toward children and their families. The event will begin at 11 a.m., also in the Performance Theatre at NSU. Bill Adams, D.M.A., assistant professor in the college’s Division of Performing and Visual Arts, will give a pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m.

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences is proud to continue its partnership with the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra, further connecting campus and community creative resources. Currently celebrating its 10th season, NSU’s orchestra in residence is composed of professional, conservatory, college, and gifted high school students performing side by side. Ars Flores gives students a rare opportunity to rehearse and perform with talented professional musicians, all of whom hold at least one degree in music.
