Health Professions Executive receives Jewish Community Service Award

Irv Rosenbaum, D.P.A., Ed.D., M.P.A., NSU Health Professions Division, provost and executive dean for administration.

Irv Rosenbaum, D.P.A., Ed.D., M.P.A., NSU Health Professions Division provost and executive dean for administration, received the Alvin S. Gross Jewish Community Service Award in June from the Samuel M. and Helene Soref Jewish Community Center. Rosenbaum was recognized for his more than 30 years of service to the South Florida community.

Some of his community involvement includes being a board member of Women in Distress in Broward County; member of the board of directors of the Greater Plantation Chamber of Commerce; member of the State of Florida Commissioner of Education’s Task Force on Holocaust Education in 2006; board member of the Ease Foundation in Davie; member of the board of directors of the Holocaust Information and Documentation Center in 2003; member of the Broward County Charter Review Commission; and chair of the Davie Economic Development Council; and member of the Palmetto General Hospital Governing Board between 2005 to 2007. He also received the Community Advocacy Award from the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center in 2006.

From 1994 to 1997, Rosenbaum was director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. He has been a professor at NSU since 1976. Prior to joining NSU, Rosenbaum spent nearly 25 years serving as city manager of the City of Hollywood, Florida; town administrator of Davie; assistant to the mayor in Lauderhill; and other municipal positions. Rosenbaum is an organizer and director of Regent Bank, a community bank with branches in Davie, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Boca Raton.
