Hansen and Sickert Sweep SSC Swimmers of the Week

Sophomores Bryndis Hansen and Thiago Sickert

Sophomores Bryndis Hansen (So., Akureyi, Iceland) and Thiago Sickert (Vila Velha, Brazil) have swept the Sunshine State Conference Swimmers of the Week award for the second time this year. It marks Hansen’s second SSC honor while Sickert earns his SSC-record fifth honor.

Sickert swam three NCAA provisional times in the 100-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. His times of 49.60, 20.58 and 45.76, respectively, were all good enough for first-place finishes.

Hansen swam two NCAA provisional times in the 50-free and 100-free. Her times of 23.85 and 51.94, respectively, were good enough for two first-place finishes. Hansen was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay A-team that finished in first-place with a time of 1:37.04.

Sickert currently ranks in the top five in NCAA Division II in the 100- free, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard fly, while Hansen ranks in the top five in NCAA DII in the 50- free, 100- free, 200- free and 100- fly.

The Sharks will be back in action Jan. 15 against Bridgeport. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
