Recently, the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council appointed Halmos Research Scientist Brian Walker, Ph.D. to the System Management Plan Workgroup. This advisory panel plays an important role in federal fishery management by providing information and recommendations at the grassroots level.  This workgroup is one of eleven panels.  Once appointed, advisory panel members serve voluntarily for 3-year terms.

The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council, headquartered in Charleston, S.C., is responsible for the conservation and management of fish stocks within the federal 200-mile limit of the Atlantic off the coasts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and east Florida to Key West.
