Halmos Mathematics Faculty Member Organizes Special Session at International Conference
This August, Halmos faculty member Fuzhen Zhang, Ph.D. organized a special session entitled “Matrix Analysis and its Applications” at the 3rd Congress of mathematicians of the Pacific Rim Mathematics Association (PRIMA17) which was held in Oaxaca, Mexico. A professor in the Department of Mathematics, Zhang worked with his international colleagues Q. Wang of Shanghai University, China and Y. Zhang of University of Manitoba, Canada to create this session. 13 invited speakers from 6 different countries presented their recent results and developments in the mathematical research field.
In addition to the special session, he presented his research in his PRIMA17 talk, “Polytopes and Matrix Equations”. PRIMA is an association of mathematical sciences institutes, departments and societies from around the Pacific Rim, established in 2005 with the aim of promoting and facilitating the development of the mathematical sciences throughout the Pacific Rim region.
