Halmos Mathematics Colloquium Series Hosted Talk on Integrable Equations

Ma Math

On Friday, October 19th, Wen-Xiu Ma, Ph.D., Professor of Mathematics, University of South Florida, Tampa, presented a talk entitled, “The Riemann-Hilbert approach to integrable equations”.

The seminar was about the Riemann-Hilbert approach to integrable equations in (1+1)-dimensions. The starting point is a pair of matrix eigenvalue problems, called a Lax pair. Soliton solutions will be generated from Riemann-Hilbert problems on the real axis with an identity jump matrix. An illustrative example associated with an arbitrary-order matrix spatial spectral problem will be discussed.

Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography department of mathematics hosts the mathematics colloquium series in the Mailman Hollywood Auditorium.
