Halmos Faculty Member Wins NSU Faculty Community Award
This year’s NSU’s President’s Distinguished Professor in Community Engagement was awarded to Halmos College faculty member Stefan Kautsch, Ph.D. As an astronomer, he has a strong starting point in developing scientific interest in the general public. Last fall Kautsch worked with the Alvin Sherman Library on a lunar rock exhibition which will be available to the public as well as NSU faculty, staff, and students. This April he and his students will be hosting a STAR PARTY in front of the Alvin Sherman Library.
The President’s Distinguished Professor in Community Engagement recognizes superior professional engagement activities in the community. The award encourages the ongoing pursuit of community service and exemplifies NSU’s “community” core value. Through this award, Nova Southeastern University proclaims its pride in the accomplishments and personal dedication of its faculty activities in the community. This award is conferred upon a faculty member who demonstrates significant contributions to the community and serves as a role model for ongoing community engagement for NSU students.
