On March 19, the Halmos College Department of Mathematics hosted Jose Franco, Ph.D., for his talk, “New Characterizations of Operator Monotone Functions”. Franco is a faculty member at the University of North Florida. His talk explored under what conditions the arithmetic and the harmonic means can be replaced by the geometric mean to obtain similar characterizations.
This talk was held in the Mailman Hollywood Auditorium. It was part of the Mathematics Colloquium Series hosted by the Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography Department of Mathematics.
