Halmos College Alumna Wins 2017 Civilian Employee of the Year
Halmos College alumna Crystal Conway (BS ’05, MS ’07) received the 2017 Civilian Employee of the Year from the Boca Raton Police Services Department. Crystal began working for the Boca Raton Police Services Department in 2014 and soon after, she took over as the Quality Assurance Officer and Technical Officer. Crystal attended national training in auditing and ISO/IEC Accreditation. With her knowledge base from training and her past work experience, Crystal re-wrote the laboratory’s Quality and Methods Manuals. Crystal led the laboratory through the accreditation process with the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
Conway is currently a Biological Processing Laboratory (BPL) Technician in the Boca Raton Police Services Department. She is responsible for maintaining working relationships with other units, including the Forensic Biology Unit at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Boynton Beach Police Department and Delray Police Department. She works closely with detectives and officers at our own department to provide guidance on serological issues and consults on casework when needed. In 2017, Crystal and her partner worked 172 cases and achieved 63 DNA hits.
