Halmos Biology Faculty Receives $500K Research Grant

Smith SharkbyteThis October, Halmos College Biology faculty member Robert Smith, Ph.D. received a $534,000 grant from the Army Research Office. This three-year grant will be used to develop new strategies to reduce and prevent infection from bacteria.

Dr. Smith along with co-principle investigators Omar Eldakar, Ph.D. (also from the department of biological sciences) and Travis Craddock, Ph.D. (from the institute of neuroimmune medicine) will work with graduate and undergraduate students to study the effects of physical force on cooperation in bacteria.
