Mahmud M. Shihab, Ph.D., alumnus of Nova Southeastern University’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences (GSCIS), has been appointed as the Director of the Educational Resources Center at International College located in Beirut, Lebanon.
Shihab will be working on various projects including professional development for faculty and staff, curriculum development, technology integration and accreditation. He currently works on technology integration with four multilingual curricular tracks: the Lebanese Program (French, Arabic and English), the French Baccalaureate Program, the American High School Program and the International Baccalaureate Program. He has been actively training teachers on IT integration tools, Interactive White Boards, Student Response Systems and Moodle.
In addition to his home country of Lebanon, Shihab has attended, often as a presenter, education conferences in Greece, Thailand, Egypt, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Oman, France, Austria and the United States. Shihab is serving his second year as Ambassador of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), home of the widely used National Educational Technology Standards (NETS). His major contribution was translating the NETS-S to Arabic and French and is now shared on the ISTE website. He also teaches at the American University of Beirut and established the IT program at International College in 1996.
Shihab received his Ph.D. in Computing Technology in Education from GSCIS in 2009.
