Make Your Greenery Greener with Xeriscaping

A xeriscaped garden is one that is designed to require minimal amounts of water and maintenance. Often, they are exclusively made of native plants.

Xeriscaping has many environmental advantages. A garden of all native plants means the plants are accustomed to the environment. They are specifically adapted to tolerate the pests and weather conditions of an area, so require very little maintenance. This translates into a lot of saved time, energy, and resources (like water) without sacrificing a beautiful looking property.

In addition, a xeriscaped  lawn uses no (or very little) fertilizer, which curbs landscape runoff  – a major source of water pollution. Also, because they are natural to an area, they can create habitats for native wildlife when designed properly.
