Going green made easier
With Earth Day still fresh in our memories, you may be feeling overwhelmed with lifestyle choices you can make to save the planet. Fortunately, some of the tips you’ve heardmay not be worth trying. Usually, their impact is too small, or there are better ways to accomplish the same goal. That being said, every little bit helps. But, if there are just too many choices for you, just skip the following:
Buying cloth diapers: Although this change doesn’t apply to everyone, it is one of the most worrisome. Who really enjoys dealing with cloth diapers? Besides, all of the water, detergent, and energy used to clean them is not good for the environment. In actuality, not only are they much less convenient, but they are not much greener.
Always buying organic: Yes, you don’t need to buy every little thing organic. It sometimes makes a bigger difference (and saves money) to simply stick with whatever is harvested locally and/or in season.
Unplugging every single appliance: Don’t sweat it if you don’t unplug your desktop, game console, or other big electronics. You can be greener by using less energy overall, like raising the thermostat or keeping the lights off.
Buying a hybrid car: Public transportation aside, there are many ways you can get around and go green.
