Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences Doctoral Student Publishes Chapter on History of User Experience in Govt. Systems

Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences doctoral student Laura Downey recently published a chapter in the book entitled, Usability in Government Systems: User Experience Design for Citizens and Public Servants. Downey is the lead author on a chapter covering the history of user experience in government systems.

Earlier this year, Downey was selected as a finalist for the “Women in Technology Unsung Hero” award during Women in Technology’s 13th Annual Leadership Awards. The Women in Technology organization honors professional women in the Washington, D.C. area technology community for their extraordinary leadership, vision and talent.

As a doctoral student in the information systems program, her research interests include enterprise architecture and information architecture. Downey is currently the Branch Chief of Applied Architecture in the Enterprise Architecture Division of the Transportation Security Administration. In this role she manages security, network, information/data, system, and applications architectures.
