Goodrick Earns Another Sunshine State Conference Weekly Defensive Award

For the second time in three weeks, Nova Southeastern University men’s basketball junior center Harrison Goodrick has been named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office late Monday, Feb. 22.

Goodrick (Sydney, Australia) earned this most recent honor on the back of a program record-setting night on the boards, gathering 21 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Florida Southern. His 16 defensive boards were just one away from the total record, with five on the offensive end pushing him past the mark set by Sherard Hernandez on Jan. 14, 1998, and matched by Goodrick himself earlier this year, against Lynn on Jan. 27.

Goodrick’s total matched that of the entire FSC team in the 90-84 win, and he also added 13 points and five assists. On the season, he is averaging 15.7 points on 56.9 percent shooting, 9.3 rebounds, and has 10 double-doubles. Eight of those have come against conference opponents (and the other two against SSC provisional members), and during league play, his averages skyrocket to 17.8 points, a league-best 11.3 rebounds, and a field goal percentage of 63.6 percent. He is also the team leader in assists at 2.7 per game, 3.5 versus the SSC.
