Gittings Selected as the SSC Female Athlete of the Year

Nova Southeastern junior women’s golfer Abbey Gittings has been selected as the 2011-12 Sunshine State Conference Female Athlete of the Year, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Jun. 25.

A native of Tamworth, England, Gittings led the Sharks to their fourth consecutive NCAA Division-II Women’s Golf Championship. In a season that was expected to be a rebuilding year, NSU placed in the top four in 11 of its 12 tournaments despite playing with only four players this Spring. The Sharks won four tournaments, including the Florida Blue SSC Championship and the NCAA Championship. Click here to read the complete release.
