Free Workshop for NSU Employees, Feb. 9

Chris Voehl, a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Associate Professor of Management at the Hudson School for Executive Education

Back by popular demand, Nova Southeastern University’s Office of Human Resources will host a free Six Sigma workshop for employees on Feb. 9.  The workshop will be held in the University Park Plaza North Building, room 108.

The program, Lean Six Sigma White Belt, is facilitated by Chris Voehl, a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and associate professor of management at NSU’s Hudson School for Executive Education. Voehl also serves as the chief information officer of Strategy Associates, Inc. The program will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  This workshop has been designed to provide the core concepts of Lean Six Sigma with a focus on lean practices and quality improvement tools. Application-oriented White Belt training makes it easy for people to question how things get done within their “line-of-sight”. Participants will be introduced to the DMAIC methodology: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control, as well as receive training in the problem solving methods and tools used to enhance their fundamental quality skills and their application of common sense.  The program is taught with small group interaction and hands-on exercises.

The second workshop, back by popular demand, “Project Management Boot Camp” offers practical, real-world and hands-on experience in learning the principles and practices of project management that lead to effective and successful project implementation.  This two-day workshop will be facilitated by Lara Chabina-Crowe, who holds a bachelors of liberal arts and science in international business from San Diego State University. She was certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) in Frankfurt, Germany as a Project Management Professional (PMP) in 2003, and was an active member of the PMI South Florida Chapter from 2004 to 2008, serving on the board as vice president administration from 2004 to 2006.  Lara is also a consulting lecturer for NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. “Project Management Boot Camp” will be offered on Feb 9 and 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at UPP North Room 108.

Seating is limited and these workshops fill up quickly.  You can reserve your spot now by registering online at http://www.nova.edu/cwis/hrd/training/index.html.  For questions, contact Maureen Simunek-Appelt, M.B.A., learning manager at NSU’s Office of Human Resources, at maureens@nova.edu or 954-262-7869.
