Free Development Workshop Offerings for NSU Employees, Nov. 10 & 11

NSU’s Office of Human Resources will host a free dynamic development workshop for NSU employees on Nov. 10 and 11. The workshop is titled, “Negotiation Skills and Strategies,” and will be facilitated by Neil Katz, Ph.D., chairperson and professor of NSU’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Science’s Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution.

Katz is also a program manager for training and organizational development for the executive education programs in the nationally renowned Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. This workshop will enhance the participants’ capacity to effectively use interest-based negotiation concepts and tools to achieve mutually satisfactory agreements that will satisfy underlying interests. Participants will explore the practice of outcome setting, distinguishing between positions and interests, emerging interests through reflective listening and chunking, generating options, creating standards to evaluate options, and agreement management.

The workshop will be held in the University Park Plaza’s North Building, room 108 and will be held  from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To participate, please register online at http://www.nova.edu/cwis/hrd/training/index.html. For more information, please contact Maureen Simunek-Appelt at maureens@nova.edu or 954-262-7869, or visit the NSU Employee Training Opportunities webpage at http://www.nova.edu/cwis/hrd/training/index.html.
