Franchise Institute Announces Home-Based Business Development Series

The H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship’s International Institute for Franchise Education (IIFE) will offer a Home-Based Business Development Series in Fall 2010 and Spring 2011.  This six-session program is designed for people who want to learn more about running a home-based business.

The sessions, which will be taught by successful entrepreneurs, business leaders from the community, and distinguished Huizenga School professors, will discuss topics such as:

  • Nuts-and-bolts of starting and operating a home-based business
  • Mechanics of a feasibility study and business plan
  • Legal structures and which one is right for your business
  • When and how to navigate tax returns
  • Types of insurance you will need
  • How to get financing
  • Pitfalls of hiring and firing
  • How to develop a marketing and sales strategy

Participants can choose to register for any or all six sessions in the series. The Fall series will begin on Sept. 21. Each session runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To learn more and to register, visit www.huizenga.nova.edu/ExecEd/HBBS.
