Four NSU Huizenga Graduate Students Receive Tuition Award

Congratulations to the NSU H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship graduate students who received tuition scholarships from the Jacki Tuckfield Memorial Graduate Business Scholarship Fund. NSU students Camika Nicole Carey, Nyckie Carroll, Sandy Isaac and Sachiel Fernand Simon will each receive $1,100 toward their tuition.

These scholarships are open to African-American U.S. Citizens who are residents of South Florida and are enrolled in any graduate or doctoral business degree program at Florida universities. Applicants must have earned 12 semester credit hours with a minimum 3.2 CGPA in their graduate business degree program. Three graduate business credits must be earned in the 2014-2015 academic year. Applicants must plan to pursue professional careers in South Florida. Jacki Tuckfield Memorial Graduate Business Scholarship Fund is a long-term strategy to improve the diversity of career professionals employed in the executive, administrative and managerial levels of the South Florida workforce.

Jacki Tuckfield Memorial Graduate Business Scholarship Fund (JTMGBSF) was created on October 21, 1997. Drs. Jack and Gloria Tuckfield established JTMGBSF as a nonprofit, tax-exempt Dade Community Foundation to commemorate the vibrant life of their extraordinary daughter Jacki Tuckfield. The Foundation was established to perpetuate the magic of Jacki’s smile, her love for humankind, her passion for excelling and her faith in educational achievement to enhance the quality of life; and, to fulfill her aspiration to establish a systematic strategy for alleviating the severe under-representation of African Americans in the executive, administrative and managerial levels of the South Florida workforce. Recipients must plan to pursue their professional careers in South Florida. To date, 311 awards, totaling $317,000 have been given to graduate students acquiring degrees at 11 universities.
