Forty-three Optometry Students Become Student Fellows
Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry is proud to announce that 43 of its current students completed the requirements to become Student Fellows in the American Academy of Optometry (AAO). This number is outstanding and represents an extensive commitment by these students.
The students who achieved this are Russul Abbas, Poonam Agrawal, Kristin Barnes, Laurie Bateh, Reema Bhagat, Ellen Butts, Pamella Chang, Joanna Cotter, Kinza Dada, Samantha Fernandez, Salman Ghanchi, Emily Hall, Mahdi Hedayat, Melanie Hong, Thien Huynh, Tiffani Jackson, Prajakta Joshi, Rachel Luke, Brandon Luu, Jade McLachlin, Candice Moses, Hieu Nguyen, Ashley Noble, Jeremy Outinen, Nageena Parasher, Bhoomi Patel, Heather Purman, Michelle Quach, Sara Rasekhi, Sarah Regal, Jessica Siu, Christina Spelich, Shundale Thomas Mixon, Jasmine Thompson, Sara Toomey, Christopher Tran, Ryan-Quang Van, Amy Hope Vinogradov, Linda Yan, and Melissa Zaleski.
The students received a Student Fellow lapel pin, a certificate, and their Candidacy for Fellowship application dues will be waived during their year of graduation. The Academy launched this program in 2011 to stimulate improved integration of all of the opportunities offered at the Academy meeting, encourage future involvement, and persuade students to become Fellows upon graduation. The Student Fellowship program is a great opportunity for students to engage in cutting edge knowledge and technology through lectures, workshops, posters and much more. The program is geared to guide students to develop their skills as an optometric or vision science professional.
