Miss Florida Teen USA Visits Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences

The 2010 Miss Florida Teen USA, Alyssa Rivera, met with Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, in June.

Alyssa Rivera, the 2010 Miss Florida Teen USA, visited NSU on June 17. Rivera was on campus to shoot promotional videos and photos highlighting NSU as a scholarship sponsor of the annual pageant. The video will be shown at the upcoming statewide pageant.

While at NSU, Rivera also met with Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences. Rivera, who is entering her senior year at Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School, has been offered a four-year, $10,000-per-year tuition scholarship to NSU by the college if she elects to attend the university and is successfully admitted into the college’s Professional and Liberal Studies (PALS) program.

For more than a decade, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences has recognized the Miss Florida Teen USA pageant winners and has offered tuition support toward an NSU education.

Four Miss Florida Teen USA contestants and four Miss Florida Teen U.S. Continental pageant winners have attended NSU on scholarships provided by the college, pursuing a wide range of academic programs from communication studies and psychology to graphic design and criminal justice. Many regularly earned the Dean’s List for academic achievement, and the majority also received additional institutional merit scholarships, such as the Nova Southeastern University Honors Award.
