Fischler School Professors Travel to Haiti, Deliver Precedent-Setting Professional Development Workshop
NSU Abraham S. Fischler School of Education professors Charlene Desir, Ed.D., and Mary Clisbee, Ed.D., recently traveled to Port au Prince, Haiti to provide professional development to administrators and professors in the School of Economics and Law at the State University of Haiti.
During the July 25 workshop, retired Colonel Antoine Atouriste, a professor at the State University and Fischler doctoral student, delivered the welcome address. He described the training as “historic” and “highly symbolic” because in the 150 years the university has existed, only French universities were invited to provide training.
Additionally, he described the event as “inaugural” because it is the intent of the School of Economics and Law to forge an ongoing, long term relationship with NSU’s Fischler School of Education in their efforts to open the first research center in the history of the university, with guidance and support from Fischler.
