Film Series | Bruce Weber: Liberty City is like Paris to Me

Friday, January 24, 2014

11:15am and 3:00pm

This short film centers on Martin Luther King and Inauguration Day 2009 in a small section of Miami called Liberty City.   Once a place full of race riot and poverty, the people of this small neighborhood in Miami, Florida have rebuilt their community over the last ten years.   The unity in the community is a testament to the dedication of one neighborhood’s pledge to build itself again.  Bruce Weber has been documenting the progress and change of this remarkable neighborhood through his portraits for years.  This is his first film about that change.   The film is a tribute to photographer Gordon Parks.
