FCE Welcomes Deerfield Beach High School Urban Teacher Academy
NSU’s Fischler College of Education welcomed students from Deerfield Beach High School’s Urban Teacher Academy (UTAP).
During their time at NSU, students toured the campus, learned about the Fischler Academy and participated in two course previews with FCE faculty Members Jia Borror, Ed.D.,and Rashid Moore, Ph.D. With Borror, the students learned about crosscutting concepts in science through a hands on activity and in their time with Moore, the students connected with English Language Learners from around the world through a social language learning platform called Hi Native.
The Fischler Academy is a unique and exciting program designed to shape aspiring educators into master teachers. Using a competency-based approach to education, students of The Fischler Academy learn at their own pace, and can complete both their bachelor’s and master’s degree in just four years.
For additional information on the Fischler Academy, please contact the director, Luke Williams at lw715@nova.edu.
