Alumni Spotlight: FCE Graduate Publishes Book on Academic Advising

Sue Ohrablo, Ed.D.

Sue Ohrablo, Ed.D., graduate of NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler College of Education (FCE), recently published the book, High-Impact Advising: A Guide for Academic Advisors. Filled with real-world scenarios, the book includes worksheets, checklists, and activities to help new advisors learn how to engage and support students.

Ohrablo is an internationally recognized speaker and author in the areas of academic advising and student services. She has over thirty years of experience in higher education administration, working in public and private institutions and with diverse student populations ranging from freshman to doctoral level students. She has held positions as director of academic advising, academic advisor, personal counselor, career counselor, and employment specialist.

Currently, Ohrablo works as a higher education consultant and serves as an adjunct professor at St. Thomas University. Previously to, she served as a Doctoral Enrollment Counselor / Assistant Professor with the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education at NSU for 6 years, and before joining FCE, she was the Director of Academic Advising for NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship.

She earned a doctorate of education with a concentration in higher education leadership from, FCE in 2009.
