FCE Faculty Members Assist Organizing and Attend the Florida Learning Association/Florida Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators Conference
Faculty members from NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler College of Education (FCE) recently organized, presented and attended the Florida Distance Learning Association’s (FDLA) Annual Conference, which took place from 1/16- 1/18/18 at the Altamonte Springs Hilton. This year’s conference was in collaboration with the Florida Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (FAMTE).
Additionally, FCE faculty members, Associate Dean, Jamie Manburg, Ed.D., and students moderated sessions, served as panelists and keynote speakers, and presented in concurrent sessions and poster sessions. The conference is an opportunity to share ideas, learn about distance learning programs and products, and gain a better understanding of the field. Additionally, it allows attendees to network with other distance learning colleagues and exchange innovative ideas. This conference is for K-12 and higher education administrators and teachers from both public and private online schools/programs.
Conference planning committee members include FCE Faculty members, Jia Borror, Berta Capo, Maureen McDermott, Gabriela Mendez, Anymir Orellana, Michael Simonson, Jennifer Reeves and Hui Fang Su and NSU Librarians, Joanna Fernandez-Nunez and Gena Meroth. Additionally, planning members include Joan O’Brien of the Broward County School District and faculty and staff from Florida Atlantic University, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida and the Florida Virtual School.
FCE Associate Professor, Hui Fang “Angie” Su, Ed.D., of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, is the President of the Florida Distance Learning Association and the Florida Association Mathematics Teacher Educators.
