FCE Distinguished Alum, Veteran and Author to Present during Homecoming Week

Jeffrey “Jeff” Scarpiello, graduate of NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler College of Education, will be presenting his recently published book, The 10 “C” Leadership Principles of Excellence – Working Toward the Benefit of the Team on Tuesday, November 6th.

Scarpiello is a medically retired, service-disabled Air Force Veteran, with over 20 years of veterans’ advocacy, policy and strategic planning experience. Currently, he is a program manager at OptumServe, which provides health services and expertise to assist federal agencies tackle the challenges of health care. Prior to his role with OptumServe, he was a legislative program specialist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Veterans Health Administration. Among other responsibilities, he managed the daily operations and personnel of the Disability Examination Management Office, and served as the focal point on administrative policies.

He has worked as a senior constituent advocate at the U.S. Senate, where he represented U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, and helped develop congressional and governmental strategies to provide information and build relationships with constituencies.

Scarpiello’s work with veterans and military service members also includes serving as a national service officer at the Disabled American Veterans and Paralyzed Veterans of America.  His book, The 10 “C” Leadership Principles of Excellence – Working Toward the Benefit of the Team, was published in 2017. Scarpiello earned a M.S. in Leadership from the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education in 2012.
