FCE Alum Superintendent of Hillsborough County Public Schools, Elected to the American Heart Association Board of Directors
Jeff Eakins, graduate of NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler College of Education (FCE), has been elected to serve as a board member on the 2018-2019 American Heart Association Greater Southeast Affiliate Board of Directors. The board services, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Puerto Rico.
Eakins is the superintendent of Hillsborough County Public Schools where he leads a team of more than 250,000 people at 230 schools. It is the eighth largest school district in America with more 200,000 students.
Last year, he received the American Heart Association’s 2017 national school Administrator of the Year award. Additionally, he is a graduate of the 2011 Leadership Tampa Class, co-chair of the Leadership Tampa 2015 Education Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Association of Instructional Supervisors and Administrators and the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County.
Eakins earned his Master of Science in Educational Leadership with the FCE in 1995.
