The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences inducted five students into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association (NCA), during a ceremony at NSU on April 20, 2009.

According to the NCA, the mission of Lambda Pi Eta is to recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies; stimulate interest in the field of communication; promote and encourage professional development among communication majors; provide members with an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field; establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students; and explore options for graduate education in communication.

Students qualifying for induction into Lambda Pi Eta are communication studies majors who have completed at least 60 hours of university credits, with 12 credits in communication courses. They have earned a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 and at least a 3.25 GPA in their communication courses. They are in the top 35 percent of their class.

Inducted this year into NSU’s Upsilon Zeta chapter of Lambda Pi Eta were junior Nichelle Farrington, senior Sarah Hafeez, senior Candice Johnson, junior Michael McGregor, and junior Jordan Shaw.
