Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Inducts Students into English, Communication Studies Honor Societies
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences inducted more than 25 students into Sigma Tau Delta and Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor societies for English and communication studies, respectively, during a joint ceremony at NSU on Apr. 27. Numerous friends, family members, and college faculty members were on hand to celebrate the students’ academic achievements.
Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, opened the event by welcoming attendees and congratulating the students. Marlisa Santos, Ph.D., director of the college’s Division of Humanities, then began the Sigma Tau Delta induction.
On hand to induct the 13 new members were Suzanne Ferriss, Ph.D., professor in the college, and Shanti Bruce, Ph.D., associate professor and coordinator of writing program in the college, as well as students from the college’s M.A. in Writing program: Brandon Bielich, Linnette Dobbs-Fuller, and Tara Morin, who were inducted into Sigma Tau Delta last year. Inductees included five students from the master’s program and eight undergraduate students majoring in English.
Following the Sigma Tau Delta induction, Jennifer Reem, M.S., instructor and coordinator of communication program in the college, began the induction ceremony for Lambda Pi Eta, along with Chetachi Egwu, Ph.D., assistant professor in the college. They were joined by students Annarely Rodriguez, president of Lambda Pi Eta, and Chelsea Seignious, vice president, who presided over the induction of the society’s 13 new members.
Following the induction, the students joined family, friends, and faculty members for a reception. To view pictures from the induction ceremony, visit the college’s Photo Gallery.
