Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Hosts Environmental Science Social on Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day on Apr. 22, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Math, Science, and Technology hosted a “Marine Biology and Environmental Science Social” at NSU’s Flight Deck. The event included a variety of exhibits and stations all focused on environmental education.

  • Representatives from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s South Florida Water Management District taught attendees how to become certified Florida Master Naturalists.
  • The Florida Native Plant Society was on hand to discuss the importance of native plants and distribute plants for students to take home.
  • The Rainlife Rain Barrel Company hosted a raffle giving away a rain barrel while educating attendees about rain barrels and their significance during droughts.
  • Representatives from NSU’s SCUBA and N.A.T.U.R.E. clubs discussed upcoming events.


The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences hosted a “Marine Biology and Environmental Science Social” at NSU’s Flight Deck on Earth Day, Apr. 22. The event included various exhibits and stations all focused on environmental education, including student research posters.


Student research posters were also on display to further educate attendees about a variety of marine and environmental science topics. The event concluded with a screening of Home, a documentary by Yann Arthus-Bertrand about our influence on the planet.
