Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences to Host Faculty Panel Discussion on Japan Nuclear Situation, Apr. 26

In light of the developing nuclear situation in Japan, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will host a faculty discussion panel on Tuesday, Apr. 26. The topic for discussion is, “Japan Nuclear Incident: Scientific Basis, Engineering Design, and Policy Implications,” will take place from 4 – 5:30 p.m., in the Carl DeSantis Building, room 1053/1054.

Among the topics of discussion will be the basic theory of nuclear chemistry and physics, nuclear reactor designs and problems encountered, transcontinental transport of radiation particles, and energy policy implications.

Faculty participants from the college will include assistant professors Bryan Armentrout, Ph.D.; Maria Ballester, Ph.D.; Victor Castro, Ph.D.; Song Gao, Ph.D.; and Jeremy Perotti, Ph.D., as well as Dimitri Giarikos, Ph.D., associate professor.
