Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Associate Lecturer Earns Distinction Award
Aimee Sanchez-Zadak, Ed.D., associate lecturer at the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, has received a 2012 Hispanic Women of Distinction Award for her commitment and contributions to the community in a variety of fields.
In addition to teaching courses in the college’s Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Sanchez-Zadak serves as president of Zadak Research & Development. The company assists individuals in creating goals and developing strategies for achieving those goals, in their professional and/or personal lives.
Sanchez-Zadak, a licensed mental health counselor, volunteers as a spiritual advisor for patients in the Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hospital. She also meets with local high school students, on a regular basis, to help them develop career choices and paths.
A breast cancer survivor, Sanchez-Zadak is also involved in various awareness efforts. She is a board member for the Pink Angels of Memorial Foundation, helping women who cannot afford mammograms. Additionally, she runs a blog aimed at increasing awareness of breast cancer treatment options.
An NSU faculty member since 1998, Sanchez-Zadak teaches courses in counseling, grief and bereavement, psychology, and interpersonal communication.
The prestigious Hispanic Women of Distinction Awards are presented by Latina Style Magazine. Winners are nominated and selected by community leaders and previous award recipients.
