Fall Studio School Begins at the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, Registration through Sept. 17

The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, Nova Southeastern University, is once again offering its popular Studio School fall sessions for both adults and students in grades 1 – 12. Registration is taking place now through Sept. 17 and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The sessions, which will be held once a week for 10 weeks, will begin Sept. 21 and continue through Dec. 4. Merit and need-based scholarships for the Studio School fall sessions are available for students in grades 1-12. Applicants must submit an example of their work no later than Sept. 17 (please visit www.moaflnsu.org for specific guidelines). Scholarships will be awarded based on the quality of the student’s submission (for merit) and available funds. 

The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale Studio School is located on the southwest corner of Las Olas and Andrews Avenue. 

Classes for Adults: Sept. 21-Dec.2 (no classes Nov. 23-25)

-Tuesdays: Oil Painting, 1-3:30 p.m.; Intro to Drawing, 1-3:30 p.m.; Portrait Oil Painting, 6:30-9 p.m.; Mixed Media, 6:30-9 p.m.

-Wednesdays: Landscape Oil, 1-3:30 p.m.; Color Theory, 1-3:30 p.m.; Figure Oil Painting, 6:30-9 p.m.; Intro to Illustration, 6:30-9 p.m.

-Thursdays: Figure Drawing, 1-3:30 p.m.; Watercolor, 1-3:30 p.m.; Figure Drawing, 6:30-9 p.m.; Intro to Painting, 6:30-9 p.m.                                                

Classes for Students Grades 1-12: Saturdays, Sept. 25-Dec. 4 (excluding Nov. 27) from 9-11:30 a.m.                                                                                                                                                                   

Costs:
Adults: The cost is $225 per session for adults (an additional $50 model fee will automatically be applied if registering for Figure Drawing, Figure Oil, or Portrait Painting.) Registration fee waived for NSU students, faculty, staff and Museum Members. All others: a $15 registration fee per application will apply. A multi-class discount is available. Students are required to bring all of their own supplies (a list will be provided on the first day of class.)

Students: The tuition is $240 per session for students in grades 1-12. Students in grades 1-8 will be provided all of the art supplies needed for the full semester. Students in grades 9-12 will be provided with basic supplies. High school students will be requested to purchase their own brushes, turnpenoid, and a small selection of oil paints for personal use. A $15 discount will apply to Family/Dual Museum Members, and NSU students, faculty and staff.

A $20 late fee will apply to any registrations received after Sept. 17.

Merit & Need-Based Scholarships are available. All scholarships are for tuition only. Scholarships are awarded for 25, 50, or 100 percent of tuition. Students may apply for both merit and need if all qualifications have been met. Any outstanding balance will be due by 12 p.m. on the Friday before class starts.
