First Faculty Lecture of Semester to Provide “State of the Climate” Briefing, Jan. 17

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will open its Faculty Lecture Series for the winter 2013 semester with a look at the Earth’s climate in the past and present, as well as a discussion about its possible future.

About the Talk
Life and death in Earth’s biosphere is elegantly reflected in the measured concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This talk will present scientific records and analyses relating to Earth’s past and present climate, as well as predictions for future climate based on models under continuing development. The lecture will also discuss the environmental health of our planet, through the lens of climate change and its compounding causes involving humans.
This talk is free, and all are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

The Faculty Lecture Series draws from the knowledge and expertise of more than 120 full-time faculty members within the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences. The series explores the faculty’s diverse areas of interest in the arts, humanities, social sciences, physical sciences, and biological sciences.
