Educators from Around the World Visit NSU for International Summer Institute
Fifty-five teachers from 27 countries recently visited NSU in order to participate in the Association for the Advancement of International Education’s (AAIE) 2012 Summer Institute.
Based at its new Palm Beach Garden’s site, AAIE is a dynamic global community of educational leaders that is proud to count NSU among its global partners. AAIE’s mission is to inspire and support its members in achieving excellence and innovation in education. One of the ways it accomplishes this is by providing summer training opportunities for international school teachers.
This Summer’s attendees participated in June workshops during the institute at NSU, including:
• Translating Brain Research into Effective Language and Literacy Instruction, with Virginia Rojas;
• Intervention Strategies for Struggling Readers, with Karen Burke; and
• Instructional Strategies for Diverse Learners, with Yvonne Bui.
The AAIE summer institute is an annual event that is supported by the Office of Overseas Schools, U.S. Department of State. In appreciation for the support received from NSU, AAIE offers scholarships to a couple of NSU students to attend its yearly summer training program.
