Economics Professor Featured on PBS-2: ‘Aging in South Florida’

Albert Williams, Ph.D.

Albert Williams, Ph.D., assistant professor of Finance and Economics at NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship was recently featured on WPBT Channel 2, South Florida’s PBS station. During the program, Williams discussed a report issued by the Milken Institute, a non-profit, non-partisan economic think tank that ranked Miami as 38 out of 100 best cities for successful aging.

Specifically, he discussed how the report was aimed at getting policy makers of metropolitan areas to take stock of the issues and develop strategies that should be employed in order to assist the elderly to age successfully. He further stated that by 2040, aging will be the next major financial crisis – much bigger than the present financial crisis facing our country – and all countries will be forced to address the aging crisis. Accordingly, per Williams, people must create as much wealth as possible, while they are young, to ensure successful aging.
