Don’t Be Caught Dead Without Your Ticket to Evil Dead: The Musical, Starting Aug. 20

The Promethean Theatre (TPT), NSU’s professional theatre company in residence, will present Evil Dead: The Musical Aug. 20 through Sept. 12. Part of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Resident Series, the production will take place in the Black Box Theatre of the college’s Performing and Visual Arts Wing in the Don Taft University Center. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m.

A play by George Reinblatt and directed by TPT’s Margaret M. Ledford, Evil Dead: The Musical is a comedic live stage show that takes all the elements of the cult classic horror films Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, and Army of Darkness and meshes them into one crazy theatrical experience.

The production follows five college students who venture to an abandoned cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. In the end, it’s up to the housewares employee-turned demon-killing hero—and his trusty chainsaw— to save the day.

Please note that these productions contain profanity; simulated blood, sexual situations, and gunshots; and dancing zombies.

Tickets for Evil Dead: The Musical are $10 for NSU students under the age of 25 (tickets available at the door, day of show only, if available), $15 for all other students under the age of 25, and $25 for general admission. For an additional $5, audience members can sit in the “splatter zone” during the performance. Ponchos will be provided.

Seats are limited. For tickets, please call 866-811-4111 or visit www.theprometheantheatre.org. For more information about the production, call (786) 317-7580.

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences is proud to partner with The Promethean Theatre in bringing professional theatre productions to NSU. In 2009, TPT’s cast and crew earned a variety of Carbonell Awards, including “Best Ensemble” for its production of Two Sisters and a Piano presented at NSU in 2008. The Carbonell Awards are South Florida’s oldest and most prestigious arts honors.
